SkyVoyager and SkyGazer iPhone apps Free Today

SkyVoyagerSplashSmallToday, Monday July 20th 2009, you can get SkyVoyager and SkyGazer iPhone apps from CarinaSoft. I’ve installed both onto my iPhone and am really impressed.

SkyVoyager is a “Dynamic Sky Simulator”. You can move around the map of the sky inspecting the details of celestial objects. The amount of information on the apps is staggering: You can search by planets, moons, asteroids, comets, satellites, named stars, deep sky objects, constellations, and more! The map has the familiar iPhone feel to it where you can spin it around and zoom in and out using one or two fingers. If you have a telescope with a hookup for this sort of thing, you can also use this app to connect to your scope and locate objects that you find on the app. It also uses the GPS function of the iPhone to customize the night sky as seen from wherever you’re standing.

SkyGazer, labeled as a “Night Sky Guide”, is the simpler version of the app, good for the casual star gazer.

To get these, just search for “Sky Voyager” or “Sky Gazer” in the app store. These are normally $14.99 applications!
